Journeys End

24 08 2008

As I wrote last night, my trip to Germany is over. I am currently I’m the plane rushing towards the US at 495 mph. I actually have the feeling he is flying kind of slow :) .
Of course now that I unpacked my iPhone they start a movie? The only entertainment you get back here in cramped coach.
It appears to be Kung-Fu Panda.
Guess I’ll watch that for a little and get back to writing. ;)

……

OK. I watched that movie and must say I am not impressed at all. Anyway.

I am about 1850 miles away from Paris now. Glad about that since I harden my serious dislike from that city. I was only at the airport and they ticked me off. The only airport that made me take out my camera and all lenses from the bag. I had to show my ticket and my boarding pass to just about every person that works at the airport.

The one good thing is that I managed to get a seat at the emergency exit which let’s me at least stretch my legs a little.

I enjoyed my trip to Germany but it was time to get back to my wife :) .

Here a couple find snapshots before I oat some “real” photos next week.

Swedish Festival

23 08 2008

On my last day here in Germany I visited the Swedish festival here in Wismar. It is a re-enactment of the end of the Swedish ‘ownership’ of this town. All this happened in 1803.

The first set of photos shows the changing of the guards in front of Wismar City Hall and another four photos of the nearby ‘kirmes’.

On the island

22 08 2008

Yesterday I visited the island ‘Insel Pöhl’ which is located just a few miles from where I am staying.

It is a rather nice place with a few beaches and a small quaint fishing harbor.

First we went to ‘Schwarzer Busch’ which means black bush – basically just a beach with some hotels and homes around this the beach there is quote nice with an open view of the Baltic Sea.
The second place we went to was Timmersdorfer Beach which is not the ‘famous’ located further north but the name-giver for it.
It has a harbor and a light tower next to the beach which made for some photogenic scenes.

The view

21 08 2008

On my third day here in Germany I finally remembered to use my iPhone and take some photos off the balcony at my parents house. It might not come over that well with the little iPhone camera but they have a very nice view and can actually see the Baltic sea.

Not sure where I’ll head today but it will be some form of sight seeing I am sure ;) .

Here are the shots I made. Better versions using my DSLR will come.

Amsterdam

19 08 2008

Just a short continuation from my previous post. Arrived in Amsterdam and hanging out in a lounge again. Nothing to donbut play on myniphone for 4 hours. Thanks for free wifi.

Off it goes

18 08 2008

Here we go. Ready for my trip to Germany.

Below are shots of the plane I am flying with and my seat. The plane is a Airbus A330 and I am luck enough to sit in seat 1H – business which I usually don’t afford internationally but I used miles this time. On the way back it’s coach :(

Well I hope I get to take some nice photo over there which I won’t be able to share until I an back since I am not taking a computer this time. I will however send some shots from my iPhone.
